1. Now available: The Globaloria-WV Year 1 Executive Report

What is Globaloria and how does it work? This Executive Report chronicles our first statewide implementation of the Globaloria program in West Virginia, demonstrating and explaining the Globaloria Program's unique learning formula. Preliminary research results from Pilot Year 1 reveal Globaloria's strong potential to provide state governments, education leaders, practitioners and researchers with a powerful model for the extraordinary value of Web2.0 social media technology and a game-making curriculum to systemically transform public education. 2. Globaloria Inspiring West Virginian Researchers: 2 Reports Provide a Roadmap for Excellence

Edvantia and WVU researchers delved into our documentation and data to produce two reports that will guide our research and program development in Pilot Years 2, 3 and beyond. "We believe in this kind of third-party research because it helps us think critically about the details of what we do and how to mobilize the program from good to great. These third party findings and recommendations show that we've already made significant impact on teachers and students - we are learning in real time how to do it even better," said Idit Harel Caperton to the Globaloria-WV Board on January 22, 2009. 3. Principals and Educators Got Hands-On and Minds-In: 2 Globaloria Winter Academies

Globaloria-WV educators came together for their third Globaloria Academy on January 23-24 in Charleston. They focused on sharpening their own digital literacies and improving their game-making and programming capacities. This year, the Globaloria Principals were also invited to learn hands-on. This marked the first time Globaloria Principals were introduced to using the Globaloria platform. "Our Principals loved it - all of sudden they were creating and editing wiki pages, leaving comments to students on their pages, blogging and sketching ideas for their own games. They experienced Globaloria just as their students would. It helped them strategize how Globaloria could scale in their schools," said Shannon Sullivan, Director of Programs, who ran the academies with her team and with support from the West Virginia Center for Professional Development.
